The International Code Council’s When Disaster Strikes (WDS) Institute prepares attendees to effectively respond to disasters. Through a combination of instruction, interactive activities and case study reviews, participants will learn the critical role of code officials in the wake of a disaster, the process of developing disaster preparedness plans, the types and availability of mutual aid, and the importance and process of coordinating and conducting preliminary damage assessments, substantial damage estimates and post-disaster building safety evaluations.
